About the Central Kentucky Arts Series

The Central Kentucky Arts Series was founded in Campbellsville, Kentucky, in Fall 1967, by a group of local residents wishing to establish an annual series of professional programs in the arts for the community. The Series has produced a diverse range of drama, dance, and music programming in the years to follow through community-wide programs, senior citizen matinees, in-school programs for the Campbellsville Independent Schools, Taylor County Schools, Green County Schools, and Kentucky Christian School. In addition, the Series has sponsored joint productions with the Campbellsville University School of Music and Taylor County Public Library.

The Central Kentucky Arts Series is a non-profit organization now in its 40th season maintained by a volunteer Board of Directors who serve on a part-time basis. Members of the Board represent a diverse cross-section of local residents. Current officers are Joan Johnson, President; Harlie White,  Treasurer; David Gaddis, Membership and Carol Krieter, Recording Secretary. All officers serve on a volunteer basis.

Programming is based upon an equal access policy for all community residents regardless of racial or ethnic backgrounds. Performance locations are chosen which provide handicap accessibility. Audience sizes for evening programs have ranged from approximately 100 to 400 while audience for in-school programs have ranged from 200 to 500. The city of Campbellsville has a population of approximately 12,000 and Taylor County a population of 23,060.
